West Indies announce list of contracted players across Men's and Women's camps

Cricket West Indies have announced the list of contracted players for the 2022-23 season. Thirty-six players have been offered contracts across men’s and women’s camps. The contract will be valid from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

The Men’s list includes the likes of Jayden Seales, Obed McCoy and Odean Smith, who have been awarded International retainer contracts. On the women’s side, Rashada Williams, Mandy Mangru and Jannillea Glasgow have also earned the International retainer contracts. 

Cricket West Indies have changed the Men’s retainer contracts approach for the 2022-23 season. The players who have been offered retainer contracts were evaluated based on their performance from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. The board also utilised statistics from the 2019-20 season to support their viewpoints. This has allowed CWI to grant appraisals based on the performance or hand out notice periods before the new tenure starts from July 1.

“Congratulations to all the players who have been offered contracts. We think this is a dynamic group, with the right mixture of experience and youthfulness to properly represent the people of the Caribbean. With general retainer contracts, it gives us a pool of talented and dedicated cricketers, who can take West Indies cricket forward in years to come,” West Indies’ chief selector, Desmond Haynes said.

“The selectors have placed a great focus on the young developing players because these are the ones who will help to build the team as we look towards the future. The panel believes that the combination of experienced players and the emerging players will give a good base as we continue to prepare teams for international matches and the T20 World Cup early next year,” Women’s chief selector Anne Browne-John said.
