Indian Test captain Shubman Gill won the ‘ICC Player of the Month’ award for the month of July. The cricketer aggregated 588 runs in the month across seven innings in England, plundering three tons in the process. He also bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award in Birmingham for mounting match-winning scores of 269 and 161 against England.
In women’s category, England’s Sophia Dunkley won the ‘Player of the Month’ award for her prolific run against India in four T20Is and three ODI matches at home.
Jaiswal Dropped, Bumrah In For Asia Cup 2025 Squad: Report
As reported by PTI, blistering Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will be dropped from the squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE. The report also indicated that either Axar Patel or Shubman Gill are currently in contention to bag the vice-captain role under Suryakumar Yadav. Moreover, premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also likely make it to the Indian squad for the tournament. Among other seniors, captain Suryakumar is expected to be accompanied by Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav. The BCCI will soon be making an official announcement regarding the squad.
CSK’s Ayush Mhatre Likely To Lead Mumbai: Report
CSK’s teenage batting sensation Ayush Mhatre is in line to lead the Mumbai team in the upcoming Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 season. As per a Times of India report, Indian Test star Sarfaraz Khan and his younger brother Musheer Khan will also make it to the Mumbai team for the tournament.
Mhatre recently led the India Under-19 team for a youth ODI and youth Test series in England. Under his leadership, India Under-19 won the five-match youth ODI series by a 3-2 margin and levelled the two-match youth Test rubber with two fighting draws.
Dewald Brevis Smashes 2nd Fastest T20I Century For SA
South African batting dynamite Dewald Brevis rained down a 41-ball century against Australia in the second T20I in Darwin. The 22-year-old blasted 125* runs in all from just 56 balls as South Africa mounted 218-7 from 20 overs. Dewald’s 41-ball ton also marked the second fastest century ever recorded by any South African batter in T20I history. Fast bowlers Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch picked up three wickets each during the Australian run-chase to keep the hosts down to 165 all out as South Africa levelled the three-match series with a game to spare.
David Warner Goes Past Virat Kohli In T20 Batting Charts
Legendary Australian opener David Warner soared past Virat Kohli to become the fifth leading run-maker in the history of T20 cricket. Warner made 71 runs off 51 balls while opening the innings for London Spirit in Manchester against the Manchester Originals. His innings extended his overall T20 tally to 13,545 runs from 418 innings at an average of 36.80.
David Warner currently finds himself just two runs ahead of India’s run-machine and all-time great Virat Kohli (13,543 runs). The Indian batting behemoth, however, holds a much higher batting average of 41.92.
