The Indian team has just completed a gruelling and highly competitive series against England. The next assignment for the team is the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament would serve as a preparatory ground for the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled for February 2026.

Notably, this time the Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, and there has been plenty of discussion around India's squad for the tournament. From the availability of Jasprit Bumrah to the new tussles for vice-captaincy in the format, fans have been intensely discussing the shape and outlook of the side.

Well, some recent reports have come out and shed light on how the Indian squad for the Asia Cup might look. As per the report by PTI, here are the key takeaways -

  • Jasprit Bumrah to play Asia Cup 2025
  • Gill to be back and be a part of the otherwise same top five (six with Gill).
  • Jitesh Sharma or Dhruv Jurel to travel as the second wicketkeeper-batter.
  • Axar Patel and Shubman Gill are in contention for the vice-captaincy role

So, based on these reports, here is how the Indian Squad for the Asia Cup 2025 might look -

Bumrah's Presence Might See Harshit Rana Being Dropped

As the tournament will be played in Asian conditions, India will look to keep the balance between the spinners and pacers on their side. So, it seems that the management might go for a three pacer-two spinner combination along with the all-rounders.

Arshdeep Singh, having already proven his credentials as a death bowler in the T20 format, is sure to make the cut along with Bumrah. The third pacer will most probably be the purple cap winner of IPL 2025, Prasidh Krishna.

Along with the pacers, the two spinners will be Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy.

Jitesh Sharma Travelling As The Second Wicketkeeper

With Sanju Samson expected to be on the side, the second wicketkeeper, who will be travelling, is expected to be someone who can play the role of a finisher. Between the two options, Jitesh Sharma seems a better fit for the open spot. In the latest edition of the IPL, Jitesh might have scored fewer runs than Jurel, but he scored with a strike rate of over 175. This makes him the perfect choice as a backup wicketkeeper who might also be a part of the playing combination as a finisher if the need arises.

India's Asia Cup 2025 Squad

So, considering the latest reports, here is how the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 might look -
