Babar Azam flopped on his much-awaited BBL 2025 debut against Perth Scorchers. Yashasvi Jaiswal tonked a match-winning century for Mumbai in the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In other news, Hardik Pandya became only the third Indian cricketer to complete 100 wickets in T20I matches.

Yashasvi Jaiswal slaps 48-ball ton in SMAT T20 vs Haryana

Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal rained down a 48-ball century in his 50-ball knock of 101 runs against Haryana in their Super League Group B match of the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season. Chasing a record target of 235, Jaiswal plundered 16 boundaries and a huge six in Ambi to notch up his fourth T20 century. Sarfaraz Khan also belted 64 from just 25 balls as Mumbai gunned down Haryana’s huge 234-3 with four wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Hardik Pandya completes 100 T20I wickets

Hardik Pandya picked up the important wicket of Tristan Stubbs in the third T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala to claim figures of 1-23 in his three overs. Pandya’s breakthrough moment also helped him reach the 100-wicket landmark in T20I cricket, thus becoming only the third Indian cricketer after Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah to attain the figure.

Hardik Pandya’s T20I bowling tally currently reads 100 wickets in 111 innings with an impressive bowling average of 26.78. The cricketer made his T20I debut for Team India back in 2016 during India’s tour of Australia.

Babar Azam flops on BBL debut for Sydney Sixers

Legendary Pakistani batter Babar Azam failed to get going on his Big Bash League (BBL) debut, falling for just two in the opening match of the 2025-26 edition of the tournament while opening the innings for Sydney Sixers. Shortly after losing opening partner Daniel Hughes, Babar chipped one towards Laurie Evans off Perth Scorchers fast bowler Brody Couch in just the third over of the game at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Sydney Sixers also ended up losing Babar’s debut BBL fixture by five wickets in the final over to the Scorchers.

Sachin Tendulkar gifts Indian jersey to Lionel Messi

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar caught up with football icon Lionel Messi at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the latter’s India tour. The cricketing legend even gifted a signed Indian jersey of the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to the Argentine. Messi arrived at the Wankhede Stadium on the evening of Sunday, December 14, and he was met with a rousing reception by a packed crowd.

Earlier this week, Lionel Messi visited the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata and in Hyderabad as part of his first trip to India.

Michael Vaughan escapes Bondi beach terrorist attack amid Ashes

Former England captain Michael Vaughan had a lucky escape amid the Bondi beach terrorist attack, that took the lives of more than 10 civilians. Currently in Australia for commentary duties in the ongoing 2025-26 Ashes Test series, Vaughan took to X and confirmed that he was “locked in a restaurant” in Bondi at the time of the deadly shootout. The cricketer-turned-commentator thanked the emergency services in Australia and also praised the civilian who confronted one of the two terrorists at the beach.
