Team India engulfed South Africa in the third T20I to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Struggling opener Shubman Gill found some form with the bat after fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana made the new ball talk.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the third T20I of the five-match series between India and South Africa, as it panned out at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 14.

Arshdeep Singh, Harshit and Chakravarthy strangle South Africa

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Indian fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana picked up three wickets between them inside the opening powerplay, with the latter of the two quicks dismissing dangermen Quinton de Kock and Dewald Brevis to claim figures of 2-34. Arshdeep trapped Reeza Hendricks in the first over before nicking Proteas captain and half-centurion Aiden Markram during the slog overs.

All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube also picked up a wicket each, while ace spinner Varun Chakravarthy unfurled the spell of the innings with figures of 2-11. Kuldeep Yadav also struck twice in the final over as India skittled South Africa for just 117. For South Africa, Markram waged his team’s lone rebellion through his fighting half-century, cracking 61 from 46 balls as none of his teammates managed to aggregate above Donovan Ferreira’s 15-ball 20.

Tilak Varma anchors India to big win after Abhishek’s top-order explosion

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma started off the innings with a huge six off Lungi Ngidi, clattering 35 runs in all from just 18 balls during his 60-run partnership with Shubman Gill in just five overs. While Abhishek got caught out by Aiden Markram off Corbin Bosch, Gill found some form with the bat by scoring 28 at run-a-ball.

Marco Jansen cleaned up the Indian opener, and Lungi Ngidi trapped Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav before Tilak Varma notched up India’s winning runs alongside Shivam Dube with seven wickets and 25 balls to spare.
