In one of the most iconic crossovers in the history of sports, Sachin Tendulkar met Lionel Messi during the latter’s GOAT India tour. The cricket legend gifted the Argentine a signed Indian jersey with his name and number on the back.

Lionel Messi arrived at the Wankhede Stadium on the evening of December 14. He was met with a rousing reception as a packed crowd relentlessly chanted his name in chorus.
After a lap of honour, Messi met ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar. The two legends shook hands, and Sachin had a special gift for the guest.
Tendulkar gifted Messi a signed Indian team jersey from the 2011 World Cup as an honourable memento. The Argentine accepted the gift gracefully, and the duo posed for an iconic photograph.
Sachin Tendulkar, along with several VVIP guests, landed in Wankhede to meet Lionel Messi. The latter also shared a frame with India’s legendary footballer Sunil Chhetri.
Messi handed Chhetri a signed Argentina jersey, and they shook hands in what turned out to be a memorable meeting. Interestingly, reports also suggested Virat Kohli's attendance for the event. But he flew from Mumbai to Delhi on Sunday and is giving it a miss.
Lionel Messi’s tour ends on a good note
The much-awaited visit of Lionel Messi in India kicked off on the wrong foot as chaos erupted in Salt Lake Stadium of Kolkata. With no proper arrangement, politicians and VVIPs swarmed Messi for desperate photographs, leading to chaos.
Fans failed to catch a glimpse of Messi, and eventually, the footballer’s security team escorted him out of the stadium in just 10 minutes due to unsatisfactory arrangements. What followed was an outrageous mayhem and vandalism.
But in Hyderabad, the situation improved as organisers welcomed him warmly and allowed him time to interact with fans with less crowding on the ground.
Even in Wankhede, Lionel Messi had the time of his life. He met several stars and interacted with the crowd wholesomely.
Overall, what started off as an embarrassing outing in Kolkata ended with a heartwarming conclusion in Mumbai.
