Former Pakistan captain and batting stalwart Inzamam ul Haq has opined that Mahendra Singh Dhoni should have announced his retirement from the ground.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Inzi said that a player of Dhoni's stature owed it to his fans who wanted to see him one last time on the ground.
"Dhoni has millions of fans across the globe who want to see him play on the ground. In my opinion, a player of such stature, shouldn't have taken retirement while sitting at home. He should have announced retirement from the ground," Inzamam said.
He went onto add that he had advised the same thing to Sachin Tendulkar. He argued that players earn their respect and stardom on the ground and hence ideally they should decide to end their journey on the ground himself.
The former captain further added that like millions of other fans he would have been happier if Dhoni did the same since he rates Dhoni as the best captain India has ever produced.
While Dhoni called it quits on his international career, CSK are confident that Dhoni will be leading the franchise at least till 2022. The leaked images from CSK training camp and from Ranchi are the indications that Dhoni has been sweating it out to get into shape for the 13th edition of the cash-rich league.
