Jay Shah Named In Top 50 'Open Minds'; Honoured For Role In Cricket Administration

Jay Shah, the youngest president of the International Cricket Council, has been rewarded for his contribution as a cricket administrator by Open Magazine. He has been named in the Top 50 'Open Minds', a list honouring top achievers from various fields.

The 36-year-old has taken some big steps to improve the state of cricket in India and across the globe in the last few years. It has elevated his status at the international level and this appearance in an illustrious list is the recognition for the hard work and the development work he has done.

Jay Shah's Rise As Visionary Leader From Gujarat Cricket Association

Jay Shah started his journey in cricket governance in 2019 and held his first big post in 2013 when he became the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). As a BCCI secretary from 2019 to 2024, Jay Shah played a significant role in successfully hosting the ODI World Cup in India and helped carry cricket in the country through the challenging COVID-19 period. He also championed equal pay for women cricketers as BCCI secretary and has been part of the cricket administration since 2009. 

The 36-year-old also served as Asian Cricket Council President and has emerged as one of the most astute cricket administrators of modern times. The son of the Home Minister Jay Shah is also credited for the formation of a new NCA in Bengaluru, which boasts of world-class facilities for cricketers.

Jay Shah Guiding Cricket To New Horizons

His tenure as ICC President has also seen cricket getting formal approval from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to participate in LA2028. He has also taken various other steps to improve the health of world cricket and recently became the first ICC president to travel to Bostwana, showcasing his emphasis on the growth of cricket.

The ICC President also got Icon of Excellence award at the 14th edition of the Forbes India Leadership Awards (FILA 2025). Now with this recognition by Open Magazine he has been placed alongside legends like Mukesh Ambani, Shashi Tharoor and Pratap Banu Mehta; all of them known for excellence in their respective fields.
