Mohit Sharma, one of the stars for India in the 2015 World Cup came into the IPL 2023 season as a forgotten star. No one even thought that Mohit Sharma would get a game as he did not play a single game in the 2021 and 2022 season after playing just a single match in the 2020 season.

However, his comeback in the 2023 season has been nothing short of a dream. He has won games for GT with scintillating spells and once again in the Qualifier 2, he stepped up and got a five-wicket haul to take his team to the final of IPL 2023.

GT won the game by 62 runs and it was Gill's century that set the stage for a big win and the job was finished by Mohit Sharma in style. Talking after the match, Sharma said that he is lucky to get five wickets and added that the ball was skidding a lot off the surface. He also mentioned that when SKY and Tilak Varma were batting, he felt that MI could pull it off.

"No, I have been lucky to get five wickets. The ball was skidding a lot at times. When Surya and Tilak were batting, it felt as if Mumbai Indians could pull off this chase."

Mohit added that they had a plan to not experiment too much when SKY was batting. He added that they wanted to keep it simple and bowl length. He stated that they were not worried about getting hit for six sixes on a length delivery and added that sometimes, it is difficult for the batters to execute their shots on length deliveries.

"I felt that if Surya is ahead of me, we are not going to experiment with too many things. When we try to go against Surya, we want to go simple as he must be having three-four shots in his mind. We were okay to be hit for six sixes off length balls. Sometimes you need to bowl length balls as it is not easy to execute those shots of a length always."

Mohit also added that they have learned from the matches they have lost and added that one cannot take things for granted till the last ball is bowled.

"Obviously, it wasn't over even after Surya got out, but it was a sigh of relief for us. We have learned from such situations. GT has lost such matches and also won such kinds of matches. Thank you so much."

Now, Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final of the IPL 2023 on Sunday, 28th of May.
