In a massive setback for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), ace speedster Josh Hazlewood is all set to miss the remainder part of the 2025 Indian Premier League season. The ongoing IPL 2025 tournament, which was recently suspended due to the India-Pakistan border conflict, will resume somewhere around mid-May.
Injury-Prone Hazlewood To Miss Rest Of IPL 2025
After the BCCI suspended the IPL 2025, Josh Hazlewood, along with the other Australian players, made his way back to his homeland. However, as the BCCI plans to resume the tournament, the RCB pacer is unlikely to return to India for the remaining matches.
As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Hazlewood, who missed the all-important IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to a shoulder niggle, will likely be picked for the World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's, London.
The report claims that Cricket Australia (CA) will include Hazlewood among the Australian players who will attend a conditioning camp in the UK in the first week of June before the WTC final.
Thus, as he continues to recover from the shoulder injury, the RCB seamer might not prefer the IPL over national duties, with the WTC final coming up. As reported earlier, the BCCI could push the IPL 2025 to May 30, the tentative date for the rescheduled final of the competition.
In such a scenario, Australia and South Africa's WTC-bound players might not get the approval for the IPL 2025, as the cricketing bodies aiming to save them from last-minute injuries.
Talking about the South African players, their board will take a final call on their participation in the remaining IPL 2025 matches in a board meeting, which is scheduled today. If Hazlewood and Ngidi miss out, it could be a huge blow to RCB, a team that is on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs.
