The entire world is talking about the resumption of the Indian Premier League, but post the tournament, India is set to travel to England for a 5-match Test series and subsequently, the India A squad will also travel to take on England Lions. Earlier, it was reported that the India A squad for the tour was supposed to be announced on May 11, Sunday.

Karun Nair back in India A squad?

However, as per a fresh report by Cricbuzz, the team is almost finalised with a few pointers to be discussed and now the squad will be revealed on Tuesday, May 13. As per reports, the forgotten star, Karun Nair is likely to get a place in the A team with Abhimanyu Easwaran likely to lead the team.

Karun Nair last played a Test match for India in early 2017 and since then, the right-handed batter was neglected by the selectors. Now, after a stellar run of form in the domestic circuit, the Karnataka batter is likely to get a place in the side for the England tour. In the 2024-25 Ranji season, Nair amassed a staggering 863 runs in 16 matches, with an average of nearly 54.

India A are set to play three games in England - two against the Lions and one against the India senior team ahead of their Test series Vs the hosts.

Other players in contention for India A squad

Apart from Karun Nair and Abhimanyu Easwaran, there are several other big names in contention for a place in the A squad. The likes of Tanush Kotian, Baba Indrajith and Akash Deep. The likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel will be in the A team, but will be drafted in the senior squad for the England Tests.

The other name who was discussed to be included in the A squad and the senior team was Shreyas Iyer. However, his inclusion depends on whether Kohli sticks with his retirement decision. If he indeed takes the retirement, Iyer is likely to be drafted in the senior squad.

Shardul Thakur also a potential choice for England tour

Interestingly, Shardul Thakur, the seam bowler is likely to be included in the India squad. He has terrific numbers, especially with the bat in England and the selectors are considering including him in the team.
