The ball wasn't the only thing that got the thrashing during Gujarat's innings in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad, even the MI players got the beating on Friday. The stumper-batter Ishan Kishan got hit near the eyebrow region, but no GT batter was at fault for the incident.

The episode occurred after the 16th over when the Titans were having a ball in the middle, and the keeper went to Chris Jordan to console him, as the seamer had a devastating time against Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

However, Kishan paid heavy duty as his eyebrow region was bombarded with Jordan's left elbow, after which he had to leave the field, and Vishnu Vinod came in as a substitute keeper for the remainder of the innings.

The magnitude of the MI stumper was so high that he didn't even come to open the innings, and later Vinod substituted him as a conclusion substitute as well. He may also have to miss the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023, where India are scheduled to face Australia at the Oval in the second week of June. However, no official statement has been made by the franchise.

Kishan wasn't the only MI player injured during the GT innings. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green were served with hot blows that forced them to leave the field. The Australian all-rounder was again hit on his left forearm while facing a hard length delivery from Hardik Pandya, leading him to get hurt before he returned to stitch a vital partnership with Suryakumar Yadav in the chase.

Earlier in the match, Shubman Gill had an evening to remember as he shattered countless mileposts with his 60-delivery 129, helping Gujarat post a blistering total of 233/3.
