As Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 suspended due to rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) confirmed the safe return of their players and support staff to Bengaluru on Saturday. The team has since dispersed to their respective hometowns and countries.

RCB Thanks BCCI For Ensuring Player Safety

RCB, in a message on X (formerly Twitter), extended its gratitude to all stakeholders especially the BCCI, security agencies, and local authorities for executing the evacuation and return plan smoothly and swiftly. The post also included images of Virat Kohli, Yash Dayal, and Josh Hazlewood.

“Our players and extended staff have safely returned to Bengaluru and are now homebound to their respective cities and countries. We’re deeply grateful for the swift coordination and support from the BCCI, local authorities, and the police who made this possible,” said the franchise in its social media posts featuring pictures of Virat Kohli, Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood.

RCB was scheduled to face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in match 59 of the league. However, the match was cancelled after the BCCI decided to suspend the league for a week due to growing concerns over national security and drone strike incidents attributed to cross-border aggression.

The suspension was triggered after match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was abandoned due security concerns. The incident raised serious concerns for the safety of players and staff, prompting urgent evacuation protocols.

It is also important to mention that this is not the first time the IPL has seen a disruption. The 2021 edition was also paused midway due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later resumed in the UAE.

RCB Form In IPL 2025 Before Suspension

Despite the disruption, RCB’s form in IPL 2025 remains strong. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, the team sits second on the points table with 16 points and is just one win away from securing a playoff spot. The team remains unbeaten in away matches and has shown remarkable consistency this season.

With the WTC final beginning on June 11 and India's Test series against England on the horizon, the BCCI is under pressure to resume and conclude IPL 2025 quickly
