Shubman Gill's Masterclass Power GT to 233 Against Helpless MI Attack

Shubman Gill's stocks have grown at a rapid rate in the last year or so and he has taken his game to another level in this IPL 2023. He hit back-to-back centuries against SRH and RCB in the last couple of games in the league stage and now in the must-win Qualifier 2, he has blasted a record-breaking 129 off 60 balls to power GT to a humongous score. The game started half an hour late with rain playing spoilsport initially but once rain perished, Gill's masterclass was a spectacle to behold.

Rohit Sharma, the MI skipper, won the toss and elected to bowl first hoping that his bowlers can take advantage of the overcast conditions. However, nothing like that happened as Gill and Saha were both off the block quickly. Gill was dropped in the last over of the Powerplay by Tim David which proved very costly even though Saha departed just after the Powerplay as Chawla outfoxed him in some style.

Gill though found an able partner in Sai Sudharsan and both stitched together a 138-run stand with Gill doing bulk of the scoring. The GT opener scored a scintillating century and smashed MI bowlers all over the park stamping his authority yet again at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Gill reached his century in 49 balls and went onto hit 10 sixes and 7 fours in his fantastic knock of 129. Akash Madhwal got his wicket in the 17th over and MI bowlers did manage to pull things back for sometime but Hardik played a handy cameo of 28 off 13 balls to make sure that GT cross the 230-run mark.

MI have chased down the target of 200 or over four times this season but to chase down a target of 234 against GT's bowling attack, it will need someone to outclass Gill's class which looks highly unlikely.
