Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was full of praise for his teammates, especially Shubman Gill, after the opener's majestic ton helped the defending champions eliminate the Royal Challengers Bangalore from IPL 2023 on Sunday night.

Chasing 198, Gill was at his majestic best on a night that had already been lightened up by Virat Kohli.

Some of the shots that Gill played tonight, especially the short-arm jabs past deep mid-wicket- were a sight to behold, something that Hardik also mentioned at the post-match presentation.

This is the 2nd time in as many seasons that GT have made it to the playoffs and Hardik attributed to the calmness in the set-up as the major reason.

The all-rounder was also full of praise for Virat Kohli, who claimed the record of most hundreds by a batsman in IPL history, courtesy of yet another majestic hundred.

"The calmness which the boys had was terrific. We wanted to keep the momentum going. We have ticked a lot of boxes. (On Gill) He knows when he plays those cricketing shots and bats like a batter, it's a different Shubman Gill. Today, the kind of options he picked and the kind of places where he was hitting, as a bowler he doesn't give any chance. That makes him very special and the other batter gets confidence from him as well. We would have taken 197 at the start, but we didn't bowl well,"

"Special innings from Virat, he batted well but we went too early for death bowling. I can't ask anything better from the boys. Last year, we did well, everything went our way. This year was a different challenge for us. We were expecting people to challenge us. The boys showed tremendous character. A lot of credit goes to all the boys the way they worked hard throughout."

Thanks to this win, the Titans finish the league stage at the numero uno spot with 20 points after 14 games. They will now face former champions Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 01 at the Chepauk on May 23.
