Recently, there has been a lot of controversy related to venue selection for the upcoming Asia Cup, which will be held in September. Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has expressed his strong disapproval towards Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, regarding the choice of venue for the Asia Cup 2023.

Raja argued that holding the tournament in the subcontinent would provide participating teams valuable exposure to subcontinent conditions, which could aid their preparation and acclimatisation for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.

During a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), PCB Chairman Najam Sethi suggested a hybrid model for hosting the upcoming multi-nation event. However, the other cricket boards could have shown more enthusiasm for playing in the UAE due to the prevailing conditions. As a result, Sethi recently proposed the idea of England potentially hosting the tournament as a suitable venue.

Here's what Raja said against Najam Sethi

"I was shocked to hear the Chairman PCB saying it would be great to see the Asia Cup being played at Lord's. Is he mentally stable or not?" Ramiz Raja questioned.

"The whole point of Asia Cup before the World Cup was that the teams get familiar with the conditions of the sub-continent," he added.

It Took Us Years To Bring The PSL Back To Our Country- Ramiz Raja

The former chairman of the PCB also commented on a statement made by Najam Sethi concerning the potential hosting of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Dubai due to taxation issues.

"Another statement that made me angry was Mr Chairman telling the press they want to organise PSL season 9 in UAE because there are issues with taxation in Pakistan," he further mentioned.

"On one hand, you're saying that Pakistan is safe for cricket regarding Asia Cup, but on the other hand, you are saying that PSL should not be conducted in Pakistan; how does that make sense?" Raja continued.

"It took us years to bring the PSL back to Pakistan and to show the world that Pakistan is finally ready to host International cricket, but you want to nullify that? So this is disappointing," he added.
