Tamim Iqbal calls Bangladesh's win over Ireland a 'Perfect Series'

Bangladesh routed Ireland in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) by 10 wickets to clinch the three-match series 2-0, with the second ODI ending in a washout. Tamim Iqbal’s side showed clinical precision at Sylhet last evening as they bundled out the visitors for 101, and then chased down their target in 13-odd overs.

Hasan Mahmud starred for the home side, claiming his maiden fifer in ODIs, as Litton Das scored a fifty, and Iqbal remained unbeaten on run-a-ball 41. Speaking after the match, Iqbal hailed Bangladesh's victory over Ireland as a 'perfect series'.

Interestingly, this was Bangladesh's first-ever 10-wicket win across formats.

Here's what Iqbal said

"We can call it the perfect series. If we had to nitpick, it would be avoiding the abandoned the game. Otherwise, we did everything within our control. The wicket wasn't easy for batting in the early stages.

We batted out the difficult period in the Powerplay twice (in previous games) to get to big scores. I am very satisfied as a captain that we have ticked almost every box,"

The 35-year-old further praised Bangladesh's bowling unit, particularly their pacers, who rocked Irish batters in both the completed ODIs. 

This was also the first instance in Bangladesh's cricketing history that all 10 wickets were taken by pacers. 

"They were brilliant and were exceptional. They worked really hard off the field and are now getting the results. Their successes aren't flukes. Having such a pace bowling unit makes life easier. "

Both teams will now shift base to Chattogram to clash in a three-match T20I series beginning on Monday.
