UP Warriorz have become the first team in the WPL history to beat Mumbai Indians  and in the process have reignited their hopes of advancing ahead in the competition.

It was a team effort from the UP girls but the girl from Agra, Deepti Sharma once again made a significant impact with her all-round performance. With the ball, she helped UP Warriorz restrict a powerful MI's batting line-up to 127 with with two wickets and two brilliant run-outs and then backed it up with a cool and calculated knock of 13 off 14 balls in a tense run-chase.

Talking after the match, Deepti Sharma explained that with Sophie Ecclestone around with her, both of them were confident that they can hit big shots with short straight boundaries and they were confident of finishing the game if they take it till the end.

The UP all-rounder also added that conditions were slightly better in the second half for batting compared to first half as the ball was skidding off the surface. Overall, she credited the team effort for the win and applauded bowlers and Grace Harris for bringing them back in the game after the initial hiccups.

She also talked about the mindset of the team before the game where she explained that they wanted to take one game at a time and focus on their strengths rather that the opposition.

This win for UP Warriorz over the high-flying Mumbai Indians have opened up the competition nicely with all teams in with a chance to make it to the top 3. UP Warriorz next game will be against Gujarat Giants followed by the last game against Delhi Capitals.
