With the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League about to begin, there has been an upsurge of excitement among fans and cricketers alike who have been contemplating their predictions about the forthcoming tournament.

Adding her voice to the conversation, former Indian cricketer, Reema Malhotra, has taken a plunge and selected the top three potential contenders for the WPL 2023 title.

She also predicted the highest run-scorer, leading wicket-taker, and eventual champion of the tournament.

During an appearance on the AakashVani show on JioCinema, Malhotra offered her expert insight. She opined that all teams have strong rosters, but some have a stronger balance of talent than others.

The 40-year-old identified the Delhi Capitals as a well-rounded team, the Mumbai Indians as having a wealth of match-winners and a formidable batting unit, and RCB as a team with many experienced superstars.

Regarding her decision not to include UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants among her top three picks, the Delhi-born cricketer elaborated that UP Warriorz have an impressive bowling department.

Still, their chances may be hampered if their batting fails. Similarly, according to the erstwhile cricketer, Gujarat Giants' reliance on foreign players could be detrimental to their success.

In her predictions for the individual awards, Malhotra selected Beth Mooney as the likely top run-getter and Sophie Ecclestone as the highest wicket-taker. She tipped the Delhi Capitals to emerge as the eventual champions of the WPL 2023.

The recent predictions from the cricketing community have generated a buzz among fans and cricketers alike as they eagerly await the commencement of the WPL with the first match scheduled between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, March 4.
