ICC Is Under BCCI, Says Former Pakistan Player In The Wake OF Asia Cup Being Moved To UAE

There has been a lot of noise regarding the venue for the 2023 Asia Cup. A few weeks ago, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, also the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), announced that India would not travel to Pakistan – the designated hosts - for the tournament. This led to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stating that if India do not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, they might also not to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
According to PTI, Pakistan may remain the host for the Asia Cup while India could be play their matches in the UAE. In such a scenario, the UAE will also host the final if India qualify, according to a PCB source.
A meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was held in Bahrain on February 4 after the board released its itinerary and Pakistan were not named the hosts of the tournament.
In the wake of these events, former Pakistan left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman, has made a remark against the BCCI.
“Asia Cup should not happen (in Dubai)," Rehman said on Nadir Ali Podcast. "That's because ICC is under them. All the people who are working for ICC are Indians. India generates 60 to 70 per cent funds. We are not in a position to say no. Even if they don't come (to Pakistan) we should go, because we have to play cricket,” he added.
Rehman played 22 Tests, 31 ODIs and eight T20Is for Pakistan between 2006 and 2014.
India and Pakistan haven't played a bilateral series for nearly a decade now. The last time Pakistan visited India was in 2012-13 when they played three ODIs and two T20s. The visitors won the ODI series 2-1 before drawing the T20s 1-1.
In the longest format, last time both these teams met was in 2007-08 season when India won the three-match Test series 1-0 at home.
