Former English cricketer Jonathan Batty was appointed as Delhi Capitals head coach earlier this year. Upon initial inspection of the players in their first training session, the 48-year-old has shared his thoughts of the team’s composure.

Batty said that he was impressed how the players started to gel straightaway in the session. He claimed that the team possesses a talented bunch of cricketers, especially in the batting segment of the group.

“The players started to gel straightaway in our first practice session. The talent is absolutely outstanding in our group. I was impressed with how the players batted during the session.”

The cricketer-turned-coach further claimed that the Delhi Capitals unit has the potential to reach the final of the WPL 2023 season. He expressed his confidence over the squad, who can qualify for the final if they perform at their maximum potential.

“We have compiled a really strong squad, a super group of players. If we can get the players performing at their maximum potential in the tournament, then we should hopefully qualify for the final.”

The Delhi Capitals team will launch their WPL 2023 campaign with a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 5. The contest will be played at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.
