The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named India's Shubman Gill as Men's Player of the Month and England's Under19 captain Grace Scrivens as Women's Player of the Month for  January 2023.

Others in contention apart from Gill were teammate Mohammed Siraj and New Zealand's opener Devon Conway, while Scrivens faced tough competition in the form of Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney.

Shubman Gill

Gill had a terrific start to 2023, registering a ton against Sri Lanka in ODIs, where he slammed 207 runs in the three-match series.

The Gujarat Titans player followed it up with a scintillating double-hundred against New Zealand in the first ODI in Hyderabad. With this, Gill became the fifth Indian batter to score 200 runs or more in an ODI.

He finished the ODI series with another hundred; his fourth to end with 360 runs across the three matches.

After a lukewarm showing in the first-two T20Is, the Punjab batter showcased his class in the series decider by recording his maiden 20-overs hundred and helping his side win the series 2-1, quite easily.

Grace Scrivens

England's under-19 skipper Scrivens had a phenomenal time in the recently concluded ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

She led the team from the front, scoring 293 runs and picking up nine wickets to win the Player of the Tournament award.

The 19-year-old ably guided England to the final, where her team lost to eventual champions India.
