Ireland women's skipper, Amy Hunter is set to miss the remainder of the Under-19 T20 World Cup due to a fractured thumb.

The 17-year-old picked up the injury on her left thumb and was subsequently withdrawn from the tournament. Aoife Fisher, has already been confirmed as Hunter's replacement and will fly out to South Africa to join the squad.

Hunter's absence is a big blow for the Ireland side, as she is one of the leading players for her nation and Fisher will have big boots to fill.

Cricket Ireland would hope that the injury is not too serious as Hunter is also in the senior Ireland side for next month's T20 World Cup, also in South Africa.

Her absence was felt by the Irish side in their second group stage game against New Zealand women, as they lost the game by 9 wickets.
