A total of four teams locked horns in two enthralling T20 contests on Tuesday, January 17th in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Let's take a quick review of the action transpired.

Match 15th: Khulna Tigers vs Rangpur Riders

Result: Khulna Tigers won by 9 wickets.

Khulna Tigers found life in BPL 2023 as they registered their first win of the season, beating Rangpur Riders in Match 15.

After being asked to bat first, Rangpur Riders could only manage a modest 129 on the board as the Khulna Tigers had a dominating day with the ball. Mahedi Hasan, at four, was the only batter who got some runs on the board for Rangpur Riders. In bowling perspective, Wahab Riaz was the pick of the bowlers for Tigers, who finished with four wickets for just fourteen runs in his four overs. 

Chasing a paltry 130, Khulna Tigers took down the target by nine wickets with ten balls to spare. Tamim Iqbal and Munim Shahriar got off to a great start and added 41 runs for the first wicket, before losing the latter just before the end of the powerplay. Mahmudul Hasan Joy joined Tamim in the middle and added 89 runs to win the game. Tamim scored his first half century of the season and remained unbeaten for 60 off 47 at the end.

Match 16th: Comilla Victorians vs Sylhet Strikers

Result: Comilla Victorians won by 5 wickets.

Comilla Victorians got the better of Sylhet Strikers in a low-scoring Match 16 of the ongoing BPL 2023.

Opting to bowl first, Comilla Victorians managed to restrict Sylhet Strikers for just 133 in twenty overs. The Victorians used the conditions well and reduced the Strikers to 56 for 7 at the end of first ten overs. However, Imad Wasim and Thisara Perera came to the rescue as the duo had an unbeaten 80 runs partnership, taking Strikers’ total past 130. 


Chasing 134, Litton Das and Mohammad Rizwan added 57 runs for the first wicket. Rizwan departed after a struggling stay and Imrul Kayes soon followed him to the pavilion. Just when the Strikers were looking to regain control, Litton Das killed the contest by smashing Sharifullah for 24 in the 14th over. The three-times champions registered their second win in a row and climbed up to fourth position in the points table.
