In a dramatic turn of events, the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended for a week due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan. The decision was taken in the wake of the escalatory situation near the LOC, with armies from both countries getting involved in intense warfare. Meanwhile, as a ceasefire has officially been declared, the BCCI plans to resume the IPL 2025 in quick time.

Why Could BCCI Tweak The IPL 2025 Schedule?

The IPL 2025 witnessed 57 completed affairs before the group-stage match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was stopped midway. According to several reports, the PBKS vs DC clash will likely be played again once the BCCI resumes IPL 2025.

The IPL governing council will hold a meeting with the ten franchises and the tournament's stakeholders to prepare a blueprint for its resumption. Meanwhile, considering the competition couldn't be played as per the original schedule, the BCCI might keep more double headers to conclude the tournament within the stipulated time, as per a report by the Business Standard.

If the IPL 2025 is conducted as per the original schedule, some of the matches could clash with the international fixtures. In such a scenario, the overseas players might face moral dilemma whether to play in the IPL or leave the tournament for national commitments.

The involvement of the overseas players definitely enrich the league and their absence could prove costly to several IPL teams, especially the ones that are on the verge of a playoff qualification.

Franchises To Recall Overseas Players For IPL 2025

Given that the India-Pakistan border conflict concluded in a ceasefire, the IPL franchises have apparently initiated the procedure to bring their overseas players back for the tournament. If the BCCI doesn't get the Indian Government's clearance to host the competition all across the country, the remaining games could be played in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
