Virat Kohli Contemplates Test Retirement: Report
Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli is contemplating to retire from Test cricket, as per reports. The report indicated that former Indian captain has already informed about his decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the Indian board has urged Kohli to rethink about the decision, considering Team India is scheduled to tour England for a five-match Test series next month.
Earlier this month, Kohli’s teammate Rohit Sharma also confirmed his retirement from Test cricket following a dismal year with the bat in 2024.
BCCI Creates Emergency Plan For IPL 2025
The BCCI is considering to host the remainder of the IPL 2025 season in three Southern venues of India, namely Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It is worth noting that the Indian board suspended IPL 2025 on May 9 citing security concerns and India’s cross-border tensions with geo-political rivals Pakistan. As many as 16 matches are still remaining in the tournament, including each of the four playoffs’ fixtures.
Several overseas, as well as Indian players have already returned homes amidst the break, and they will be expected to resume their duties once the IPL resumes.
BCCI To Announce New Test Captain, Team For ENG Tour
According to reports, the BCCI is expected to announce India’s Test team, as well as a new captain following the retirement of Rohit Sharma, for the upcoming five-match tour of England on Friday, May 23. The report also indicated that a BCCI representative will be consulting with senior Indian batter Virat Kohli before confirming the squad.
Team India is scheduled to tour England shortly after the IPL 2025 season for a five-match Test series. The first Test will be hosted by Headingley in Leeds between June 20 and June 24 and the series will also launch India’s WTC 2025-27 campaign.
Jay Shah Responsible For PSL Not Happening In UAE – Report
In a significant development, several reports are indicating that ICC Chairman and former BCCI secretary Jay Shah is responsible for the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) declining PCB’s offer of hosting the remainder of the PSL 2025 season. The ongoing geo-political conflicts between India and Pakistan has put both, IPL 2025 and PSL 2025 on hold, with both BCCI and PCB searching for alternate venues for remaining matches. While PCB earlier confirmed that PSL 2025 will be shifted to the UAE, the ECB reportedly rejected the offer.
BCB Give Update On Bangladesh’s Tour Of PAK
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly given an update regarding Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of Pakistan. Amidst Pakistan’s border tensions with India, the BCB stated that the board is currently in active and ongoing discussions with the PCB regarding the security of the Bangladesh cricket team. Bangladesh is scheduled to travel to Pakistan later this month to play a series of five T20I matches.
