Shardul Thakur breathes fire as Mumbai eyes innings victory

Shardul Thakur bowled a deadly spell against Assam late on Day 3, reducing the hosts to five down with only 17 on the board. Earlier in the day Shardul got the first breakthrough during Assam’s first innings, giving Mumbai the start they needed and later bowled Assam out for 370. Mumbai imposed follow on and Shardul ripped through Assam’s batting order, taking three wickets in the span of 9 balls, including the wicket of inform Rishav Das and Riyan Parag as well. Assam were left stranded 36 for 5 at Stumps, still 281 runs behind with Mumbai eyeing an innings victory on Day 4.

Then came Mahipal Lomror for Rajasthan, who was at his aggressive best and smashed a quick 83-ball 99. Rajasthan batters were looking to score quickly to reduce the deficit and it was working quite well until Vyshak dismissed Lomror. Vyshak, who took four wickets in the first innings, took another four wickets in the second innings and Rajasthan got bowled out for 330 with a slender lead of 14. Karnataka went on to win by 10 wickets.

Dhruv Shorey scored his third century of the season

Dhruv Shorey scored his third century of the season, this time against Andhra on Day 3 of the Round-5 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Shorey continues to pile up runs despite his side being absolutely poor and placed second last in Group B. Delhi needed to bat the entire day to save the game and Shorey made sure they did with himself returning unbeaten on 142 after stumps. Shorey becomes the first batter to cross 700 runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Delhi were 300 for 4 at the end of Day 3 and will be eyeing to take first innings lead on the last day.

Mukesh Kumar takes 4fer as Bengal fights back against Baroda

Bengal got bowled out for 191 early on Day 3 and conceded a first lead of 78. However, in reply, the Bengal seamers came all guns blazing and completely ripped through the Baroda batting. As a result, Baroda got bundled out for 98 with Mukesh Kumar bagging four wickets and Ishan Porel taking three scalps as well. Bengal finished the day on 53 for 3 leaving a mouthwatering day four in front of us with Bengal needing 124 runs to win.
