It is the Melbourne derby in the Big Bash League with Melbourne Stars all set to clash against Melbourne Renegades in the 27th match to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 2018-19 champions Renegades will up keen to climb up the ladder where they are currently placed at fifth position with three wins from five games. Stand-in skipper Aaron Finch has stepped up to provide his side with good starts while the rest of the lineup hasn't really stood up to expectations. Their performance hasn't been at par with four back-to-back losses which puts additional pressure on them coming into this game. The bowling as of now is resting on the shoulders of Akeal Hosein and Tom Rogers who have claimed 12 and 10 wickets, respectively.

On the flip side, their counterparts, the Stars are placed seventh on the table with just two wins from as many as six matches. Marcus Stoinis finally came to the party, albeit late with his blitz in the previous game smashing a 35-ball 74. With the ball, Luke Wood has been among the wickets. However, they are coming off a victory over Adelaide Strikers by 8 runs.
