Brisbane Heat rope in Sam Hain for Big Bash League 2022-23

Big Bash League (BBL) club Brisbane Heat have announced the signing of Englishman Sam Hain for the upcoming 2022-23 edition. 

Hain comes in as an international replacement for Sam Billings and Colin Munro (both will leave in early January) and will feature in the competition during the second half.

Hain, raised in Australia, represented Queensland and Australian youth teams before making his name in England in County Cricket, having played for Warwickshire Cricket County Club since 2014.

The 27-year-old is a constant feature in The Hundred league playing for clubs like Manchester Originals and Welsh Fire.

Overall, in the 107 First-Class, 59 List-A, and 97 T20 matches, Hain has scored 11,682 runs combined. 


In a statement, Hain expressed his delight in participating in his first-ever BBL season.

"I am so excited to be able to play in the BBL. It’s been a big goal of mine for a few years now and it is a massive thrill be able to be a part of things with Brisbane this summer."

Coach Wade Seccombe also welcomed Hain into the Heat system.

"It will be a great fit to have him back in the group. His playing experience is excellent, especially as a white ball player who knows how to control an innings and make good decisions in the middle."

Heat begin their BBL 12 campaign against the Melbourne Renegades on December 15.
