Last week England got better off India in Adelaide, and one week later, Australia took the Men in Blue's revenge by outclassing the World Champions at the Adelaide Oval in the first ODI of the series.

Despite Dawid Malan's personal best ODI score (134 off 128 deliveries), the Australians chased down the total of 289 runs in 46.5 overs - thanks to the opening stand of David Warner and Travis Head before Steve Smith's flamboyant 80* took them home.

Australia's newly appointed skipper, Pat Cummins was mightily impressed with his team's performance and called it a 'team effort'.

"Everyone just cracked up. It was more than a management decision. I am sure he [Josh Hazlewood] will be a part of the series in the future. Yeah, spot on, that was great to see, we all know he is classy with the bat," Cummins commented in the post-match interview.

Cummins, who himself took three wickets, praised the efforts of Ashton Agar and Head as the duo returned in the Australian outfit after a small break.

"Yeah fantastic performance, it's a team performance, everyone got involved with the win, pretty pleasing. I think just spread out, Ashton Agar came to the team after a while, and then Travis Head stepped up,

"With time and time, getting better and better, yeah, have a long summer as well," the Australian skipper concluded.
