After a shocking decision of releasing Dwayne Bravo from the Chennai Super Kings' squad before the 16th edition of the IPL 2023, CEO Kasi Viswanathan has come out with explanations. According to him, the decision of letting go ace pacer was due to his age. Already 39 years old, Bravo was struggling to get through in the last few seasons.

“In Bravo’s case, age was definitely a factor,"

Not just Dwayne, Kasi also opined on why English pacer Chris Jordan was dropped. He said that the team weren't confident of retaining him in the squad as his record in the subcontinent conditions isn't encouraging.

“Our experience has shown that Jordan has not done well in the Indian conditions during the IPL,"

For Adam Milne, he was bluntly clear that “He is prone to injuries,” and retaining him would be a big gamble.

When asked about Jagadeesan Narayan and Hari Nishaanth, he cleared that as openers they would be getting limited opportunities.

“It is very difficult for opening batters to get a chance in the eleven,”

Talking about the auction strategy, he was confident that they would get great players they are looking for while also being cautious that their counterparts have the funds to invest in players.

"We now have Rs 20.45 crore in the kitty while going into the auction. We will try to get the players we want. But it will be a tough auction with some other teams also having the money,”

Another big question that was asked was about all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who they had fallout with last season after sacking him as captain. He mentioned that the four time champions were sure about him continuing with them.

“There was hype in the media. But we were always confident,”

Finally, there were quite a few ifs and buts about Ambati Rayudu continuing but Viswanathan said they truly trust him to perform once again for the side, especially skipper MS Dhoni.

“We have the confidence he will deliver. The captain believes he will perform.”

CSK will next participate in the IPL mini- auction on 23rd December in Kochi.
