Bismah Maroof scripted history when she stepped onto the field for Pakistan Women in their third and final match of the One-Day International (ODI) series against the visiting Ireland side in Lahore.

Bismah is now Pakistan Women's most-capped ODI player, surpassing former skipper Sana Mir. The 31-year-old now sits on 121 appearances one ahead of Sana's tally of 120.

Others in the top five include Javeria Khan (116), Nida Dar 96, and Asmavia Iqbal (92).

Bismah made her debut in 2006, aged 15, and has since become the backbone of the side. She also holds the record for the most ODI runs for a Pakistani woman player (2,960).

In the ongoing three-match series, she has scored 69 runs. Speaking with PCB Digital, ahead of the match, Bismah expressed her gratitude.

Maroof on her journey

“It is a great honour to represent Pakistan. After becoming a mother and since my comeback, I am grateful to my parents and my husband who have supported me in continuing my cricket journey.

I have played a lot under Sana Mir, she was an inspirational leader, helping in grooming most of us and we all have learnt a lot from her."

The Lahore-born has also played 124 T20Is. Pakistan have gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
