Bangladesh looked a promising side during their stay in the tournament. There were some individual brilliance to be seen by the players. But the team failed as a unit and the real concern was the weak leadership.

The Journey

In the Super 12s, Bangladesh won 2 of their 5 matches against Zimbabwe and Netherlands. They gave lost the other 3 matches against South Africa, India and Pakistan.

They gave a fight to India but suffered convincing defeats against South Africa and Pakistan.

Report Card of T20 World Cup 2022:

Najmul Hossain Shanto- 6/10

Innings: 5 Runs: 180 Avg: 36.00 SR: 114.64

Najmul Hossain Shanto was the most consistent batter for Bangladesh in the tournament. Although, he scored runs on a consistent basis, his scoring rate was bit slower than desired.

Litton Das- 6/10

Innings: 5 Runs: 127 Avg: 25.40 SR: 142.69

Litton Das played a impactful knock against India, though the effort ended up in a losing cause. Except the knock against India he had no other real contribution to speak of.

Afif Hossain- 3/10

Innings: 5 Runs: 95 Avg: 23.75 SR: 125.00

Before the start of the tournament, Afif Hossain was believed to be one of the mainstays of the Bangladesh batting. But he failed to deliver as per expectations.

Soumya Sarkar- 1/10

Innings: 4 Runs: 49 Avg: 12.25 SR: 125.64

Overs: 19 Runs Conceded: 167 Economy: 8.78 Wickets: 6 Avg: 27.83

Shakib Al Hasan was probably the most important batter of Bangladesh batting line up. He was an utter failure with the bat, however the rating points that he got are because of his somewhat average performance with the ball.

Nurul Hasan- 0.5/10

Nurul Hasan had a disappointing performance with the bat in the tournament.

Overs: 7 Runs Conceded: 64 Economy: 9.14 Wickets: 2 Avg: 32.00

Musaddek Hossain had a disappointing tournament. But he bowled an important last over against Zimbabwe and that is the reason he got some rating points.

Hasan Mahmud was pretty decent with the ball for Bangladesh in the tournament.

Mustafizur Rahman was economical with the ball but as a main bowler of the team he did not pick up enough wickets.
