South Africa captain Temba Bavuma was upset with his bowlers' performance in Thursday's Super-12 match against Pakistan.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan was reduced to 95/5 in 13.0 overs before Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan put on a sensational show with the bat and sent the Proteas bowlers on a leather hunt.

Iftikhar and Shadab clobbered the South African bowlers to all corners of the ground and stitched a match-winning partnership of 82 runs from just 35 balls. While Iftikhar finished up with 51 off 35, Shadab smashed 22-ball 52.

Thanks to their onslaught, the Men in Green posted a mammoth total of 185 runs on the board and later defended the total to seal the game by 33 runs.

Speaking on their first defeat of the tournament, Bavuma rued South Africa's dismal bowling effort that allowed Pakistan to post a mammoth total despite the disastrous start.

Here's what Bavuma stated

"Quite disappointing the way we ended our bowling session. Getting them 5 down quickly and allowing them to get to a formidable score. Lots of questions we need to ask. Credit to them. We knew that weather was going to be a bit of an issue,

"I'm no bowler but the bowlers do practice for these conditions. Wicket was sliding on, slower balls weren't gripping. We probably could've used the bigger side a bit more."

South Africa are now placed second in the Group 2 points table and will take on the Netherlands in their final league stage fixture on November 6 in Adelaide.
