Pakistan edged past New Zealand in the final of the T20I tri-nation series, which also involved Bangladesh, by five wickets to lift the coveted trophy. Mohammad Nawaz and Haider Ali dug their side out of the hole, adding 52 off 22 deliveries after the visiting top-order failed.

Apart from Nawaz and Haider, Haris Rauf shone with the ball, restricting the Kiwis to under 165, with Kane Williamson back in the side.

Skipper Babar Azam was all praise for his players namely Nawaz and Haider, who changed the momentum of the match in their stride. Nawaz remained unbeaten on 38 off 22, while Haider blitzed to a 15-ball 31.

Pakistan's under-fire middle-order finally came good for their side, scoring 95 runs in a chase of 164.

Babar all praises for his batters

"The way Nawaz and Haider are playing, outstanding. That's what you want the middle order to do - step up. The wicket behaved similar in both innings, so I don't think so (whether he regretted chasing on seeing the pitch).

Before the big event, we have good confidence as a team and we hope to carry the momentum forward."

Pakistan take on arch-rivals India in their opening ICC T20 World Cup 2022 encounter on October 23.
