In a riveting contest, Sri Lanka women lost their opening Asia Cup game against India women by 41 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was the star for India as her 76-run knock helped India post a competitive total and the bowlers eventually defended it on Saturday.

Now the Sri Lankan skipper, Chamari Athapaththu has come out and stated that it was the runouts that costed them the match. She further added that her side needs to overcome this issue.

"We lost wickets at crucial times, particularly the runouts which cost us the game. Jemimah batted well, we have to stick to our plans in the future.

Harshitha batted well, she's crucial for us. Hope she continues to perform well. The runouts are an issue, we need to concentrate on overcoming it," Athapaththu stated.

Speaking about the match, India posted 150 on the board and the total made life difficult for the Lankan batters. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were never really in the hunt, as they were bundled out for 109.
