Speedster Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the fifth match of the seven T20I series between Pakistan and England taking place in Lahore this evening. Shah was rushed to the hospital late on Tuesday night after his health deteriorated following a severe viral infection.

According to reports, Shah is being tested for dengue, which is an all-time high in the city for the past few months. The paceman regularly complained of chest pain and fever since his arrival from Karachi after the fourth T20I.

In their statement, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Shah's participation in the remaining matches would depend on the advice of its medical panel.

"He was taken to hospital with a viral infection but he is feeling better now. He will not be playing tonight and any decision on whether he plays the remaining matches will be taken on advice of medical panel."

The 19-year-old played the series opener at Karachi, before missing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th T20Is.

Interestingly, Naseem came in for the injured Shaheen Shah Afridi during Pakistan's Asia Cup 2022 campaign and ended up hogging the limelight with his performances.
