How RCB will benefit from IPL suspension? [Source: AP Photo]
The inevitable happened and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended for one week amidst the India-Pakistan Border tensions, triggered by the Pahalgam attack on April 22. The suspension decision came after Punjab Kings Vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala match was abandoned.
Since the airports were closed, the players from both the teams and the entire support staffs were moved to Delhi by a special train arranged by the BCCI. If everything goes well, the league will commence next week and it could well turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
Why the IPL suspension will turn out to be a blessing for RCB
At the moment, RCB have injury-related issues in their camp. Devdutt Padikkal was already ruled out of the tournament with Mayank Agarwal as his replacement announced. However, apart from the left-handed batter, the team also has other health and injury issues.
- Phil Salt, the RCB opener was suffering from fever and missed RCB's last two IPL matches. The one-week gap will allow the opener to get match-fit before the tournament commences again.
- Patidar, the RCB captain suffered from a finger injury while fielding against CSK in the last game and was doubtful for the LSG clash. Now, he has ample time to heal from the injury.
- Their key pacer and one of the leaders in the Purple Cap race, Josh Hazlewood also missed the CSK match due to an injury and the team felt his absence but they barely survived in the contest. A one-week gap will also help him to recover and play the next match.
If and when the league commences, RCB will most likely have their three key players fit and raring to go as they aim for a place in the playoffs.
