As the tension between India and Pakistan cranks up to dangerous levels, one of Indian cricket’s most respected voices has stepped up, not with the bat this time but with a message from the heart. Former Indian skipper and current Mumbai Indians stalwart, Rohit Sharma took to X and posted a powerful tweet.
Rohit Sharma Speaks Out Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions
At a time when military strikes are grabbing headlines and the IPL is getting dragged into the storm, Rohit Sharma's words came like a calm voice in a roaring storm as he urged fans to stay united, support the armed forces and not fall for the chaos.
Rohit didn’t mince words. His post was part pride, part caution and all heart.
“With every passing moment, with every decision taken I feel extremely proud of our Indian Army, Indian Airforce & Indian Navy. Our warriors are standing tall for our nation’s pride. It’s important for every Indian to be responsible and refrain from spreading or believing any fake news. Stay safe, everyone!” wrote Rohit.
IPL 2025 Suspended
Rohit’s message came just hours after chaos hit Dharamshala, where the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly called off. The reason? Air raid alerts and reports of military activity close to the Indo-Pak border. Dharamshala sits barely 90 kilometres from Pathankot, a zone now on high alert.
The abrupt halt sparked a wave of emergency meetings between the BCCI and Government of India, ultimately leading to the decision to pause the tournament indefinitely. Safety, after all, takes precedence over sport and the remainder of the season now hangs in limbo.
Rohit’s Return on Hold
Rohit Sharma was originally scheduled to return to action on May 11, when Mumbai Indians were to face Punjab Kings, a game initially set in Dharamshala, later moved to Ahmedabad for security reasons.
But with the entire IPL 2025 season now suspended, all plans have been tossed out the window. Whether Rohit or any team will take the field again this season remains to be seen as the trophy itself sits in uncertainty.
