Women's Asia Cup 2022: Mahika Gaur rejoins UAE squad

The young teenage sensation Mahika Gaur has rejoined the United Arab Emirates squad for the Women's Asia Cup 2022. The seven-team continental tournament will be played from October 1 to 16 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

Gaur missed out on most of the action in Summer, due to her pursuit to attend schooling in the United Kingdom. 

Earlier this year, the 16-year-old emerged as the leading wicket-taker for the UAE team in the Asia Cup Qualifiers with 11 wickets in five games at a terrific economy of 1.36. Gaur''s performances helped the team to seal the place in the show-piece event and also win the title. 

On the back of promising performances, Gaur was signed by the Manchester Originals for the Women's Hundred 2022. 

In her absence, UAE could win only one of the three games in the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2022, and finished seventh among eight participating teams. 

However, her addition will surely have boosted UAE's prospects to go deep in the Asia Cup, wherein they will also face teams like India and Pakistan. They will kick-off their campaign on Saturday (October 1) against Sri Lanka.
