In a setback for Delhi Capitals (DC), Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk won't be joining the team after IPL 2025 resumes. The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start again on May 17, following a week-long break. The pause was due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
Jake Fraser-McGurk Not Rejoining Delhi Capitals
According to ESPN, Fraser-McGurk is the second overseas player to withdraw from the rest of IPL 2025, after Jamie Overton from Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Fraser-McGurk, who was picked by DC for INR 9 crore, has informed the team that he won’t be rejoining them.
The 23-year-old young batter, who had been a key player towards the end of IPL 2024, lost his place in the team halfway through this season after struggling with his performance.
In IPL 2025, Fraser-McGurk played six matches, scoring 55 runs at a strike rate of 105.77, averaging just 9.17 before being dropped from the playing XI. In total, he has played 15 IPL matches, scoring 385 runs with a strike rate of 199.48 and an average of 25.67.
Delhi Capitals Currently Fifth On IPL 2025 Points Table
DC have won six matches and lost four out of 11 played so far, placing them fifth on the points table with 13 points and a net run rate of +0.362. In their last five games, DC has managed to win just one, with two matches being abandoned. Their upcoming games are against Gujarat Titans (GT) , Mumbai Indians (MI), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
DC will now play their upcoming match against GT on Sunday, May 18 at the Arun Jaitely stadium
