Australia's current Test captain Pat Cummins has weighed in on his future as all-format captain for his country. The position for the ODI skipper was left vacant after white-ball skipper Aaron Finch called it quits from the format.

However, with the subsequent ODI series set to be played two months later, the decision could come to maturity after the T20 World Cup 2022, which could prove to be the final event for Finch in the shortest form of the game.

The Australian side currently has a plethora of options to choose from the likes of Pat Cummins, David Warner and Steve Smith, with their selection depending on longevity, fitness and previous captaincy record. Furthermore, the Aussie quick has also called for David Warner's ban to be lifted in view of him leading the side.

Test Skipper Cummins has his say

Cummins mentioned that if he leads his side in all three, it could be quite 'unrealistic' for him as it is essential to manage the workload, primarily if you are a pacer. He said,

"I think if you were going to do all the formats and every game, I don't think that's realistic. Especially as a fast bowler, I think you do need to find windows to rest. But I think you can manage that as well,"

He admitted that he is enjoying his current role and position as the test side's skipper, without hurrying to enter a new role.

"It's not something I have really thought about. I am really happy with captaining the Test side ... I don't think they need to rush into any decision."

Australia will next tour India for a 3-match T20I series scheduled to take place from the 20th of September.
