Pakistan and Afghanistan, on Thursday, produced one of the best T20I contests of the ongoing continental tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium with the former of the two emerging victorious by a wicket in a low-scoring thriller.

The highly electrified clash saw Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah wrapping things up in style as he hit Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi for two consecutive sixes in the final over to take his side home with a wicket in hand and four balls to spare.

However, what caught the attention of the fans in the high-octane clash was a heated confrontation on the field between Pakistan batter Asif Ali and Afghanistan fast bowler Fareed Ahmad Malik in the penultimate over of Pakistan's run chase.

The incident took place shortly after Asif Ali's departure on the fifth delivery of the 19th over. Ali was batting at 16 off 7 balls and looking to finish things on a rousing note for Pakistan when Fareed Ahmad deceived him with his sheer pace.

Soon after the dismissal, Fareed Ahmad went on to celebrate the big wicket which came at a crucial juncture for Afghanistan.

However, his celebration didn't go down well with Asif Ali as he raised his bat to threaten the left-arm pacer before other Afghanistan players and umpires intervened and separated the duo.

The aggressive behaviour of Asif Ali is being highly criticized by the fans on social media, who have condemned the act. Here's the video of the incident.

Following this victory, Pakistan secured a berth in the Asia Cup 2022 Final. The result also meant that Rohit Sharma-led India and Afghanistan are now eliminated from the multinational tournament. With four points each, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have successfully qualified for the title clash.
