Jasprit Bumrah, who missed India's campaign in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 due to a relapse of his old back injury, is eyeing to make his comeback in the home series against either South Africa or Australia. Bumrah spent a week at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and is back in Mumbai to continue his rehab from home.

As per a report in InsideSport, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hopeful that the spearhead will make a recovery and is fit in time for the marquee ICC World Cup T20 in October.

According to MRI scans, there is no stress fracture as feared earlier,  and with proper rest and treatment Bumrah could very likely feature in one or two games ahead of T20 World Cup in Australia.

“He has made good progress on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the physios. Nitin (Patel) is keeping a regular tab while he is away from NCA. We are hopeful that he will be coming back in Australia or South Africa series and definitely for T20 World Cup. But it’s still too early to say,” - An undisclosed BCCI official

The BCCI and national selectors have time until September 16 to decide the squad for the upcoming World Cup. However, the BCCI maintained that Bumrah wouldn't be rushed back into play due to the 20-overs premier competition.

Apart from Bumrah, Harshal Patel's fitness will also worry the selectors, who suffered a rib injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022.
