The Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has applauded Hardik Pandya's all-around abilities, which helped India to prevail in a nerve-wracking encounter on Sunday (28 August) in Dubai.

Being put to bat first, Pakistan managed to post a competitive total of 147 on the board, with the contributions of Mohammad Rizwan (43) and Iftikhar Ahmed (28).

The cameos from tail-enders, Haris Rauf and Shahnawaz Dahani were good support for the Men in Green in the end as well. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked four wickets, while Pandya returned with three scalps.

In particular, Pandya took the wicket of Rizwan, who was starting to look threatening to provide a late flourish to Pakistan's innings.

Afterwards, the calm and composed knocks of Ravindra Jadeja (35 off 29) and Pandya (33* off 17) paved the way for India to win a thriller in the last over.

In this regard, Babar lavished praise on Pandya's influence on the game to ensure the Men in Blue start off their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a winning note.

“He (Pandya) did very well in bowling and in batting as he finished off the game was great. According to me, he is a very good all-rounder,” said Babar in a post-match press conference.
