We don't take anything for granted: Marco Jansen on South African pace bowling attack

In a recent interview, Marco Jansen opened up about his international debut, the Test format and the dominant performances from South Africa in the first red-ball fixture against England.
With just 18 first-class appearances, Jansen made his Test debut against India in December 2021. He picked a total of five wickets, with his mindset to let the ball do the talking by pitching it near the off or the fourth stump. Since then, he has been a revelation for the Proteas red-ball side.
Jansen believes the longest format always rewards you for your hard work in both departments.
The 21-year-old further added that it has been a learning curve for him to play alongside experienced cricketers, which has helped him to perform well in crucial situations.
In his latest outing for Proteas in the first fixture of the Test series at Lord's, Jansen contributed with four wickets and 48 runs to secure a victory by an innings and 12 runs.
Apart from Jansen, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada ran down the England batting unit with their proficient performances.
When asked if Proteas have one of the best bowling units in World Cricket, the southpaw responded by terming cricket as a level-playing field, which can punish you for your overconfidence.
"I wouldn't say we are unbeatable. We put in the hard yards and we are still putting in the hard yards," said Jansen.
"We don't take anything for granted because we know when we do that, Mother Cricket is going to kick you on the backside."
South Africa will lock horns with England in the second fixture of the red-ball series from 25 to 29 August at Old Trafford.
