England's opening batter Zak Crawley has extended his contract with Kent for another year. The opening batter's current deal was due to expire by the end of this season's County Championship.

Debuting for the senior Kent side in 2017, Crawley has since been an integral part of the squad that has dominated multiple events over the years. However, the right-hander, also on England's central contract, was hanging on a thin piece of thread because of his below-average form.

The 24-year-old has accumulated over 1,200 runs in the longest format in 26 matches he has played so far. However, lately, no positive innings from him in any format has been worrisome for the Kent-born.

Crawley contented with his extension

On rejoining his side, Crawley said that he has always been a Kent player and staying with his current franchise has been an exciting prospect. He also mentioned that the team has been through a lot over the last few years, and they are all trying to get better as a team.

Recently, two other players to pen down a new contract include Sam Billings and Grant Stewart, who confirmed their participation in the Kent jersey.

Coping criticism from all ends

Crawley, who is under the scanner because of the batting approach, has been given a green signal by coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes to continue despite critics questioning his technique, including Sir Alastair Cook.

The renowned former English captain expressed his disgruntlement over Crawley's lack of form and said he must re-evaluate his shots.
