Top 5 batting performances in the Men's Hundred 2022 in the last week

The Men's Hundred 2022 commenced a week and a half ago and has already provided the fans with some electrifying cricketing action comprising of humungous hits, excellent bowling spells and what not. 

In this article we will be taking a look at the top five batting performances from the past week. 

5. Adam Lyth 79 off 33 vs the Oval Invincibles

First on our list is a blistering innings by Northern Superchargers' opener Adam Lyth which came in a losing cause. 

Asked to bat first on a sunny day at Kia Oval by the Invincibles, Adam Lyth made full use of this opportunity, scoring a blitzkrieg 79 off just 33 deliveries. He also hit the fastest fifty in the hundred up till now, reaching the landmark in just 17 deliveries.  


4. Dawid Malan 88 off 49 vs the Northern Superchargers

At no. 4, we have Dawid Malan's heroics against the Northern Superchargers that propelled the Rockets to an easy victory. The home side won the toss and skipper Lewis Gregory decided to bat first on a pitch that was a batter's paradise. 

However, disciplined bowling from the Rocket's  reduced the Superchargers to a par total of 152-8.  In reply, opener Dawid Malan made short work of the chase as he blasted his way onto 88 off just 49 deliveries, hitting 11 boundaries and 3 sixes.


3. Dawid Malan 98 off 44 vs the Manchester Originals

Match no.11 between the Trent Rockets and the Manchester originals saw two records being broken at the same time. the first being the Originals making the highest ever total and then the Rockets chasing it with ease to make it the highest ever total to be chased. 

Malan led his side's charge in the chase as plundered his way through to a classy 98* to shepherd his side to victory in their pursuit of a mountainous chase. The left-hander's innings was studded with 3 fours and 9 nine sixes. 


2. Will Smeed 101 off 49 deliveries vs the Southern Brave

Second on our list is Birmingham Phoenix's young gun, Will Smeed's mesmerising ton against the Southern Brave. The match was held at Edgbaston, the Phoenix's home ground. James Vince, the Brave's skipper won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that he was soon going to regret. 

One of England's rising superstars, Will Smeed tore apart the opponent's bowling line-up as he went on to score the first ever century in the history of the Hundred, scoring 101* off just 51 deliveries (8 fours and 6 sixes). 


1.Will Jacks 108 off 49 deliveries vs Southern Brave

The best innings of the bygone week in the Men's Hundred came courtesy of Will Jacks. The 23 year old hit a majestic century that too in a chase, scoring 108 off just 49 (10 fours and 6 sixes) against the Southern Brave. 

The Oval Invincibles won the toss and elected to field first at the Kennington Oval. James Vince and his men found it difficult to score against a disciplined Invincibles' bowling line-up and could only manage a paltry 137. 

In reply Will Jacks took the responsibility of the chase on his shoulders and quite literally as well, as he ended up scoring 108 of the total 142 that the Invincibles scored.
