Hosts Hampshire took on Northamptonshire to mark the 13th Group B game of the ongoing Royal London One-Day Cup. Here is a look at the highlights from the Newport thriller.

Hampshire vs Northamptonshire

Hampshire captain Nick Gubbins won the toss and opted to bat first at Newport’s Newclose County Ground. A half-century from Tom Prest and handy 30s by Fletcha Middleton and Keith Barker headlined hosts’ modest total of 199.

For Northamptonshire, Jack White and Rob Keogh both picked three wickets apiece while pacer Nathan Buck collected two, including one to finish off the Hampshire innings just inside 41 overs.

In response, the visitors lost opener Ricardo Vasconcelos for a two-ball duck. Emilio Gay and Rob Keogh steadied ship by extending the score to 77-2. Gay’s dismissal was followed by another 56-run stand, this time between Keogh and Gus Miller.

Looking all set for a comfortable win at 177-5, Hampshire bowlers triggered a collapse to remember. The Northamptonshire batters lost their final five wickets for just 11 runs as they were bowled out for 188.
