David Warner to skip BBL in favour of International League T20

One of the leading batters in T20 cricket, David Warner, is a box-office player for franchises across the globe, who willingly shell out big bucks for his acquisition.

If reports are to be trusted, Warner might skip the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) in favour of the inaugural season of the International League T20 (ILT20), which is organised by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).

The BBL 2022-23 commences on December 13 and concludes in February, while ILT20 2022 will occur between January 6 and February 12.

As per News Corp, the Australian opener is in talks with ILT20 teams, backed by several Indian Premier League (IPL) owners.

Each team will have a salary cap of $2 million.

It is speculated that franchises can recruit four players from their parent IPL teams.

"Each franchise will be allowed to sign four players of their choice outside of the draft or auction, which we will decide later. It could be any player who has a NOC from his home board," Mubashir Usmani, the secretary-general of the Emirates Cricket Board, was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

AN NOC unlikely for Warner

Cricket Australia (CA) is unlikely to hand a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the 35-year-old. Instead, CA is planning to contractually bound its' player to play in their domestic league over others.

The World Cup-winning player has previously represented the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers in the BBL.

He currently plays for the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise in the IPL, having previously represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
